The Wo-Tum-Bu Floor Lamp is a collaboration between Ingo Maurer and Dagmar Mombach, whose singular eight-step hand-dyeing process transforms raw paper into something closer to a natural artifact. Each shade is rolled with quiet precision, taking on the soft, enclosing form of a cocoon. Light passes through from within, diffused and warm, settling a room rather than commanding it.
The lamp draws an open homage to Isamu Noguchi, whose paper Akari series redefined how light and material could speak to each other. Where Noguchi worked with washi and bamboo, Mombach introduces a contemporary dyeing technique that gives each piece a depth of color and texture that no two lamps share exactly.
