Stellar Nebula is a collaboration between Artemide and Bjarke Ingels Group that treats glassblowing as a living, evolving discipline. Each diffuser is hand-blown by craftspeople working in the Murano tradition, meaning no two pieces are identical. The form carries the breath and gesture of its maker.
What sets Stellar Nebula apart is the application of PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finishing to the blown glass surface. This industrial process deposits an ultra-thin metallic layer onto the glass, producing iridescent, nebula-like shifts in color and reflectivity that respond to the light source within and the ambient conditions around it. The result is a pendant that reads differently at every hour of the day.
