My New Flame begins with video footage of an actual candle. A smart random sequence ensures the movement never repeats, so the light behaves with the same organic drift that makes a real flame impossible to look away from. The color temperature of the LEDs is tuned to match candlelight precisely. At a conversational distance, the distinction dissolves.

The form is deliberately bare. A naked circuit board holds all the technology in plain view, turning the engineering into part of the composition. Up close, the low-resolution pixel grid becomes visible, a candid acknowledgment that this is a digital object in dialogue with an ancient one.
