Mate Clothes Valet
Mate began with a simple inversion. Milanese designers Annalisa Dominoni and Benedetto Quaquaro, working as the creative duo (a+b), took a chair, turned it upside down, and asked what new purpose that familiar form might serve.
The answer is a clothes valet that feels almost inevitable. A powder-coated square tubular steel frame forms the structure, its ladder-like backrest now reading as a series of horizontal rails for coats, bags, jackets, and the other objects we shed at the threshold between outside and in. The silhouette is spare and geometric, equally at home in an entryway or beside a bed.
