Glass Bag
The Glass Bag began with a provocation: what happens when the utterly familiar is rendered in a material that reorders perception? Atelier de Verre Anvi answered by translating the everyday carrier bag into a work of blown glass, suspending it between two contradictory states. It holds the silhouette of something soft and yielding, yet it is made of glass, solid and resonant.
Each piece is mouth-blown by hand, which means no two are identical. Dimensions vary slightly from one to the next, and that variance is part of the work's integrity. Available in five colors and two sizes, the Glass Bag reads differently depending on light conditions and placement: sometimes opaque and weighty, sometimes luminous and seemingly weightless.
- Mouth-blown glass construction
- Available in five colorways and two sizes
- Dimensions vary by piece due to handmade production
- Functions as sculpture, decorative object, or vessel
Atelier de Verre Anvi is an internationally recognized studio whose work sits at the intersection of glassmaking tradition and conceptual art. The Glass Bag is among its most iconic expressions of that dialogue, drawing the eye and holding it with a form that is both immediately legible and quietly strange.
