Family Chairs
Junya Ishigami conceived the Family Chairs as a study in shared identity and individual difference. Each of the five steel chairs carries a quietly distorted silhouette, as though seen through a curved lens, yet all five read unmistakably as one family. The concept draws from the image of people gathered at a table: distinct in posture and character, bound by a common nature.
Ishigami is one of Japan's most considered architectural minds, working consistently at the edge of perception and questioning where structure ends and atmosphere begins. The Family Chairs carry that sensibility into functional form. Proportion is everything. The distortion is never arbitrary.
