BK10 Dining Chair

BK10 Dining Chair

Bodil Kjær designed the BK10 in the 1960s as a study in quiet confidence. The chair's wooden frame is spare without being austere, its proportions drawn with the kind of care that reads clearly across decades. Carl Hansen & Søn has brought this design back into production with fidelity to the original geometry and an eye toward contemporary use.

The seat and back cushions are upholstered in Sunbrella fabric, a material chosen for its resistance to UV exposure, moisture, and wear. This makes the BK10 equally at home on a covered terrace as it is around an interior dining table. The frame is available in several wood species and finishes, allowing the chair to hold its own in a wide range of environments.

  • Design by Bodil Kjær, originally conceived in the 1960s
  • Solid wood frame in multiple species and finish options
  • Sunbrella cushions rated for indoor and outdoor use
  • Suited to dining, terrace, and contract settings

Kjær was among the few Danish women architects to gain international recognition during the postwar period. Her furniture work reflects the same discipline as her architecture: nothing added beyond necessity, nothing removed that serves a purpose.
