Bell Side Table (Copper Edition)

Bell Side Table (Copper Edition)

Sebastian Herkner designed the Bell Side Table as a study in deliberate contradiction. The base, formed from tinted quartz grey glass and mouth-blown using a traditional wooden mold, carries the curved silhouette that gives the piece its name. Above it, a solid copper pedestal supports a black lacquered crystal glass top that appears to float, held in place by contrast rather than convention.

The Copper Edition brings a particular material dialogue to the composition. Copper, dense and warm in tone, is borne by glass, which is fragile and light. The expected hierarchy of materials is quietly reversed. The result is a table that reads differently depending on the light and angle, shifting between sculpture and furniture without settling on either.

  • Hand-blown quartz grey glass base, formed in a traditional wooden mold
  • Solid copper pedestal
  • Black lacquered crystal glass top
  • Each piece individually handmade in Germany
  • Natural variations in the mouth-blown glass, including small bubbles or surface irregularities, are inherent to the process and unique to each table

Herkner, who trained as a goldsmith before studying product design in Frankfurt and Berlin, brings a jeweler's sensibility to scale. The Bell Side Table is produced by Classicon, the Munich-based manufacturer with a deep commitment to craft-led production and enduring form.
