Patricia Urquiola conceived the Beam Sofa System as an inquiry into how furniture can organize a room without commanding it. The defining element is the "beam" base: a clean geometric plinth that gives each module a grounded, architectural presence while remaining open to reconfiguration.
Components include end units, center units, corner units, chaise lounges, ottomans, and integrated low tables. They connect with the logic of a well-drawn plan, yet the result reads as comfort rather than system. Cushions are soft and enveloping, the high back offers shelter without enclosure, and the silhouette holds its proportion across every configuration.
