Termoska Vase
Anna Torfs works within a Bohemian glassblowing tradition that stretches back more than two centuries, applying those inherited techniques to a sensibility that is wholly contemporary. The Termoska Vase is the result: a hand-blown object that reads as sculpture first, vessel second.
Organic geometric volumes give the form its quiet drama. As light passes through layered colored glass, it refracts differently depending on the angle and the hour, so the piece changes in character without moving. The interplay between translucent and opaque surfaces is deliberate, producing depth that flat or uniform glass cannot achieve.
- Hand-blown using traditional Bohemian techniques
- Layered colored glass with translucent and opaque passages
- Each piece is unique by nature of the hand-craft process
- Made to order
Torfs studied the material rigorously before making it her own. Her objects carry the weight of that knowledge without announcing it, and the Termoska is no exception.
